At the start of the open-air season, the patio is brought out of hibernation and used as an extended living area. As soon as the weather permits, we head outdoors to read, eat, party and play. But what is even more important than garden furniture, plants and the barbecue is having the right sun shading system – such as the high-grade awnings, sun sails and slatted roofs by Warema. They turn the patio and balcony into individual feel-good living rooms where we can live in comfort from spring until autumn. Deciding which is the right sun shading system for the home depends on several factors, including where it is to be used, how it is to be operated, and any desired extras.
One of the most important sun shading products for the outdoor life is the awning. In order to ensure that everyone has right model for their needs, Warema has a tremendous range of options for choosing and individualisation. There are some 200 different frame colours in up to five surface types, as well as a range of fabrics in over 300 designs and patterns. The acrylic fabrics used are long-lasting and of intense brightness, dirt-repellent and provide the optimum protection against UV rays. When required, additional patio side screens and valance roller blinds offer additional protection against the low sun, light breezes and curious glances. In the cool hours of the evening, optional radiant heaters promise pleasant temperatures under the awning, while dimmable LED stripes create a welcoming atmosphere. Operating the awnings and accessories is uncomplicated, and achieved either by electronic or digital means using a hand-held transmitter or smartphone.
Warema has three product groups in the field of awnings.
For the patio and balcony, the company offers Terrea patio awnings, cassette awnings and articulated arm awnings. Each version has its own advantages and is suitable for different requirements. With cassette awnings, a housing protects the fabric and the frame parts against dirt, wind and weather when the awning is closed. This means these awnings are particularly strong and can also be used in areas that are exposed to rain. There is a choice of several different modern cassette designs that can be matched perfectly to the particular architecture.
With their filigree design, the reasonably-priced open and half-closed articulated arm awnings offer aesthetic, reliable sun protection for any area that requires protection against the weather. Fabric and technology are exposed on open articulated arm awnings. An optional rain hood is available to provide basic weather protection. They are suitable for installation under a covered area such as a roof projection or a balcony. With half-closed articulated arm awnings, the integrated rain hood and optional fabric bearing shell protect the fabric against the weather so that the awning creates a closed system when retracted.
Elegant Perea pergola awnings combine a harmonious design language with a high level of functionality and easy operation. They add unique accents to the patio and, thanks to the two poles that support the guide rails, are extremely stable. Warema Perea awnings are suitable for large areas even when exposed to the wind. This is also thanks to the tight guidance of the curtain by means of secudrive® technology, which also prevents unwanted lateral light gaps. Warema will be introducing more Perea designs in 2018 with new technologies that also offer rain protection.
The large glass surfaces of conservatories and covered open-air seating require a perfectly fitting sun shading system. With its Climara conservatory awning, Warema offers individual solutions for any architectural challenge, such as triangular or trapezoid, horizontal or sloping areas. There is a choice of above- and under-glass options with sophisticated technology that guarantees safe operation and an excellent fabric tension in any situation. The high-grade awning fabrics provide reliable shade and a pleasant feel-good ambience, and can also add coloured accents if desired.
Apart from awnings, the Warema range also includes numerous other products for outdoor living. Sun sails and slatted roofs are attractive alternatives with functional characteristics.
Sonea sun sails
Warema's Sonea sun sails radiate lightness and elegance, and seem almost to float. They provide shade without appearing to restrict, and add a feeling of peace and safety wherever they are used. Sun sails can be installed on a house wall or free-standing, which makes them particularly flexible. The options range from fixed to movable, from set in place to easy to fit and remove. Colour and shape can also be chosen to suit individual requirements.
Lamaxa slatted roofs are virtually unbeatable in functionality and flexibility. They extend the living area from the inside to the outside, providing an additional feel-good living area outdoors. The free-standing slatted roofs create new areas of shade in the garden. Weatherproof, wind-stable and almost entirely independent of the season, their uses far exceed those of other sun and privacy screening systems. With the integrated ZIP awnings, LED lighting and radiant heaters, there are almost no limits to the options they offer. As slatted roofs can also be free-standing with the use of posts, they provide shade exactly where it is wanted in the garden to offer protection against the sun. There is a choice of Lamaxa with specific slat control for an individual incidence of light or with slats, which can be retracted when desired.
Both sun sails and slatted roofs are available in different designs with smart control systems that are easy to operate by app, and create unique feel-good spaces under the open sky.
