The future of home automation is building automation – and this future has already begun. The signals for all connected products (such as sun shading, lighting and windows) run via data-processing bus systems that link sensors and actuators. A sun shading expert, Warema offers product solutions tailored to the KNX system and the individual requirements of private homes and commercial buildings.
Intelligent networking with KNX sun shading actuators
KNX technology is one of the leading control standards for smart building solutions. All components developed by Warema comply with the required standards, which means they can be easily combined with other home automation products, even those from other manufacturers. KNX sun shading actuators can be used to independently control two to eight different sun shading drives with 230 volts alternating current (AC). The KNX SA 4MDC 4-way actuator offers great flexibility and independent control of four 24-volt (DC) sun shading drives. Warema also offers KNX sun shading actuators that enable individual, independent control of up to 16 SMI motors or SMI LoVo motors in up to 16 groups. To ensure optimum energy yield, manual operation can be restricted via automatic inputs (e.g. Cut-Off).
All Warema KNX actuators are available as DIN rail-mounted devices or as surface-mounted variants. Their integrated binary inputs allow standard (venetian blind) push-buttons to be connected. The manual override function and easy-to-use KNX programming button operated via Bluetooth and smartphone app are innovative and unique – suspended ceilings and double floors pose no problem during commissioning. SMI actuators are commissioned using an SMI Key ID via automatic motor search and assignment in the smartphone or ETS DCA app. The SMI Key ID can be entered manually, although this is not necessary.
Other advantages of the KNX SMI actuators include simple line routing and intelligent SMI motors that determine the current position of the sun shading system and provide error feedback. This makes control via SMI much more precise than with standard motors. This particularly pays off with slat tracking and in the Cut-Off position, which prevents direct sunlight from entering.
Warema KNX room controller
The KNX operating device with integrated room temperature sensor has an easy-to-use touch display. The Warema KNX room controller is connected to the bus line, has a weekly timer for programmed times, can implement up to four scenarios and can also control light and heating at the same time as various sun shading groups. The set temperature values are easy to specify, and the display and operating pages are configured according to a customer’s individual requirements.
Just like on a smartphone, users can call up the pages simply by swiping. The room controller's unobtrusive design fits into every standard light switch range and is used in exactly the same way, blending discreetly into any room concept.
New KNX flush-mounted actuator
Warema is expanding its KNX range to include the KNX 1MPF.4 UP actuator, a flush-mounted actuator for switching sun shading drives and power consumers. Thanks to its compact size, it can be easily mounted in the flush-mounted box and is therefore ideal for retrofitting and renovation. It enables up to two floating output channels to be controlled and parameterised individually. Four binary inputs are available as actuator or bus push-buttons, for example to connect commercially available (venetian blind) push-buttons.
