Angelique Renkhoff-Mücke (Chief Executive Officer)
The WAREMA Group is a family-owned company with strong values. Taking responsibility for social issues has always come naturally to us.
People are very important to the WAREMA Group. We know that it is our employees who make us strong.
We are involved in many projects in the areas around our sites. We take our social responsibility seriously and we are committed to helping shape our society. The projects are organised by regional and national organisations, associations and institutions that are committed to equal opportunities, education, sport and social welfare. In addition, the Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff Foundation, which was established in 1995, supports practical research and development and university education. The foundation is being continued in the spirit of its founder and reflects our long-lasting commitment to society.
We put great emphasis on providing our employees with excellent training and education.
The result is that our company has a high level of employee satisfaction and long-term employee retention.
Every individual counts. WAREMA's values include openness and respect for everyone, regardless of their gender, religion or beliefs. We have more than 5000 employees at sites in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Benelux countries, Italy, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia who speak a variety of languages and come from a number of different cultures. Diversity is the guiding principle of our group of companies. We take an inclusive approach.
Our corporate culture is based on partnership and a family atmosphere. It is characterised by give and take, by challenges and support and also by respect and recognition. Our corporate culture is constantly growing and developing. In recent years, the emphasis has been on encouraging openness to new ideas, strengthening trust and introducing agile working methods.
"Use it or lose it". This is why it is good to keep exercising. The health and well-being of our employees is our top priority. For this reason, we offer a variety of preventive measures, regular support activities and individual solutions for employees with serious problems. A good work-life balance and the opportunity for lifelong learning in the WAREMA Academy are also important to us.
WAREMA takes its social responsibility seriously, supports charities and becomes involved in social projects on the basis of its strong convictions.
WAREMA is involved in many projects in the areas around its sites. It takes its social responsibility seriously and is committed to helping shape our society. The projects are primarily organised by regional and also national organisations, associations and institutions that focus on the welfare of the young and the elderly, and that promote equal opportunities for women, men and disadvantaged people.
"It's normal to be different" is the centre's motto and we fully support it. Since 2007, WAREMA has not only been providing financial support, but also taking part in joint campaigns. This has helped bridge the gap between people with disabilities and the world of work.
At WAREMA, health is very important to us! This is why we are always pleased to see people taking exercise. As part of a long-term partnership, WAREMA sponsors the Hans-Wilhelm-Renkhoff-Halle sports centre and individual departments and campaigns run by the sports club, for example as the title sponsor of the annual running event.
"It comes around every year...". We always put the emphasis on helping others and particularly in the period before Christmas when the Johanniter charity runs its Christmas Truckers campaign. Every year, local people put together aid packages for disadvantaged people in south-eastern Europe and hand them in for delivery. Many WAREMA employees have regularly donated packages.
There are situations in life that, when seen from the outside, simply leave you feeling emotional and speechless. These include mourning and grief, particularly when young people are affected. Since 2021, WAREMA has been a committed supporter of the immensely important work of the charity in providing counselling and long-term support for children, teenagers and young adults in particular who have lost a loved one.
"There is only one thing in the long run more expensive than education: no education." We totally agree with this statement made by former US president John F. Kennedy. It applies to all children and young people worldwide. For this reason, we support a special project in Ghana. The Baobab School for Trades and Traditional Arts, an inclusive institution which was opened in 2005, receives financial support from a farm project where young people are trained in organic farming and in growing moringa trees. We are making a small contribution to giving young people a future.
Alongside these long-term projects, we also support a variety of other activities on the basis of our convictions. These include projects in schools, nurseries and associations in the region. We are also there to help in the case of unforeseen events, such as the catastrophic floods in the Ahr valley in 2021. In 2022, the focus was on supporting people in need of help as a result of the war in Ukraine. An aid organisation in the Main-Spessart region was set up very quickly. It supported people who had fled Ukraine by providing them with the essentials of everyday life and helping them to find accommodation. Many WAREMA employees worked as volunteers for the organisation. The company itself also provided support in a number of different ways. For example, an internal platform for sharing aid was set up, where people could ask for what they needed or advertise what they had to offer.
The Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff Foundation was established in 1995 by the company's founder to promote practical research, development and university education. The foundation, which is named after the company founder, is one of the most important supporters of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. It provides funding for research and teaching, regularly offers scholarships and awards prizes to students in the fields of engineering and business for outstanding achievements.
Over the years, the focus of the research projects has changed and they now cover current themes. In addition, for several years we have provided funding for projects that focus on the welfare of the young and the elderly, promote equal opportunities and support education and vocational training.
Over recent years, the foundation has also organised a Christmas dinner for foodbank clients and their families.
Our social engagement takes a variety of forms. The WAREMA Potential Programme (WPP) is a scheme that provides support for at least one social project each year. On one day in the summer of 2023,
the members of the WPP found themselves assembling climbing frames and mixing concrete. They helped a team from the building department of the Marktheidenfeld local authority to set up three pieces of play equipment on the "Ökobaugebiet" playground. The helpers found out a lot about how to design a playground.
It was a rewarding and informative day for the WPP team. Playgrounds are some of the most attractive features of residential areas.
Leftover pieces of material can be reused. And it is important to emphasise the social effect. BRICHBAGs are produced by MANOMANA in Augsburg, the first social enterprise in the regional textile industry. What is special about MANOMAMA is that Sina Trinkwalder, the managing director, has created jobs for many people who would otherwise have had difficulty finding work.
Each BRICHBAG purchased also pays for a rucksack for a homeless person, filled with all sorts of useful items for people who are forced to live on the streets.
This can make the lives of people who are having a tough time just a little bit easier!
