As a family-owned company, we have always thought in terms of generations rather than financial quarters. That is part of our overall responsibility for people and the natural world, which is in our DNA and therefore comes naturally to us.

We play an active part in the energy transition

This is why our sustainability strategy includes a total of 30 ambitious goals. With the help of these goals, we intend to continuously improve both our corporate carbon footprint and our product carbon footprints.

We are working towards our goals by taking a variety of different measures.

Angelique Renkhoff-Mücke (Chief Executive Officer)

Our sustainability strategy forms the foundation for the sustainability activities within the WAREMA Group.

It provides guidance for establishing our long-term targets and includes measures that will allow us to achieve these targets in four key areas: the environment, employees, value creation and society.

It is also based on our self-image of encouraging and expecting sustainable action.

As a result, it determines the fundamental direction of what we do – across both our divisions and all our brands.

The guiding principle behind our sustainability strategy is to make good progress while not losing sight of the big picture. We sum this up by saying: Let's go

This is accompanied by our two initiatives Let's go low (CO2) and Let's go together.

Our initiative for reducing CO2 emissions and making responsible use of resources and energy.

Our initiative for social engagement and social values is part of our self-image as a family-owned company.

Accepting social responsibility, respecting human rights and making an active contribution towards protecting the environment and acting sustainably are some of the core values of the WAREMA Group.

We base our business activities on these principles. Against this background, we have committed to the following international documents:

The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The United Nations Human Rights Covenants

The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact

The Core Labour Standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO)

However, the following topics are particularly important to us:

WAREMA is committed to combating climate change and to taking responsibility for its own CO2 emissions. With our commitment to the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement and to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we are taking a science-based approach with the aim of significantly reducing our CO2 emissions.

After reviewing our climate targets, the SBTi has validated that our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for Scope 1 and 2 are in line with the 1.5 degree target. Specifically, WAREMA has set itself the target of reducing CO2 emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 42% compared to the base year 2021. In addition, the absolute Scope 3 CO2 emissions from purchased goods and services as well as fuel and energy-related activities are to be reduced by 25% in the same period.

WAREMA supports the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which were adopted in September 2015 by the member states of the United Nations. As a company, we are certain that these goals will encourage joint action and accelerate progress towards achieving sustainability.

Our communications on the subject of sustainability are open and honest. The WAREMA sustainability report (german) summarises the most important developments from the 2023 financial year. We publish this report on a voluntary basis in accordance with the GRI reporting standards.

Our core values also include our commitment to respecting human rights and our commitment to the environment beyond our company boundaries, which is why we have anchored the protection of the environment and human rights in our sustainability strategy and committed ourselves to compliance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LKSG) in our WAREMA Group Declaration of Principles

Further information can be found in our report on the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (german) for the 2023 financial year

Sun shading systems lie at the heart of our business. They create a pleasant, comfortable climate inside your home. But they also bring benefits for the climate outside your front door and for your bank account, because of the savings you can make on your energy bills and the subsidies that are available. Whether you are building a new home or renovating an existing one, intelligent sun shading solutions such as awnings, roller shutters and external venetian blinds ensure that your house stays cool inside, protect you from glare, UV rays and nosy neighbours and improve the energy efficiency of your home. The quality and longevity of our products are particularly important considerations for us. This is reinforced by the services we provide, such as the 5-year manufacturer's warranty and the 10-year protection package for outdoor living products.

This is our contribution to sustainability, to climate protection and to the responsible use of resources. Would you like to find out more about how you can help the environment and the climate with sun shading systems?

With a combination of sustainability and social engagement, old can be turned into new and scraps of fabric left over from cutting out awnings can be transformed into attractive bags and rucksacks.

Leftover pieces of material can be reused. And it is important to emphasise the social effect. BRICHBAGs are produced by MANOMANA in Augsburg, the first social enterprise in the regional textile industry. What is special about MANOMAMA is that Sina Trinkwalder, the managing director, has created jobs for many people who would otherwise have had difficulty finding work.
Each BRICHBAG purchased also pays for a rucksack for a homeless person, filled with all sorts of useful items for people who are forced to live on the streets.
This can make the lives of people who are having a tough time just a little bit easier!

"We design living spaces that improve people's well-being and quality of life. We also create outstanding, innovative and sustainable solutions."

"Because of our fascination for plastics, we are committed to making responsible use of resources."
